Tonight we welcome Tony North for an evening exploring the wonderful world of fungi photography. Expect beautiful details, woodland atmosphere, colour, texture and plenty of inspiration for those autumn walks when the best subjects are often hiding quietly underfoot.

Bring your camera, tripod and a few things to photograph for a hands-on still life and macro evening.
This is a good opportunity to slow down, experiment with lighting and composition, and make interesting images from everyday objects, flowers, textures, curiosities and anything else you can fit on a table.

Tonight we look at the practical side of preparing prints for club competitions and exhibitions.
We will cover mount cutting, sizing, presentation, where to order mounts and mount board, and how to give your printed images the best possible finish. Very useful if you are new to print competitions, or if mounting still feels like a dark art.

Tonight we will look at members’ images and explore different ways of editing them.
This is always an interesting evening, as there is rarely only one “right” edit. We will discuss what works, what changes the mood of an image, and how small adjustments can make a big difference.

Tonight we head out for some low-light photography around Roaring Meg, using shop lights, street lighting, reflections and silhouettes.
Ian will start the evening with a short practical introduction covering settings, how to use available light and what to look for. Then we will put it into practice. Wrap up warm and bring a tripod if you have one.

Tonight we celebrate nature photography, judged by Alison Jenkins. (4 images showing variety of subject within the body of work).
Expect wildlife, plants, landscapes, detail, behaviour and the natural world in all its variety. Always a lovely competition for seeing how differently members interpret nature through the camera.

Tonight is our monochrome print competition, judged by Christine Holt.
With colour removed, the emphasis falls on light, tone, shape, texture and mood. A good monochrome print can be beautifully simple, quietly powerful, or full of drama.

No meeting tonight as we take a short break for Christmas.
Enjoy the festivities, charge your batteries and keep the camera handy.

We start the new year with a review of images from the 2026 EAF Exhibition.
This is a chance to enjoy a strong selection of photography, discuss what makes successful images stand out, and gather inspiration for our own work in the months ahead.

This lecture will be via Zoom.
Tonight Derek Gale joins us to explore movement in photography. From intentional blur to creative camera techniques, this evening should encourage us to think beyond the perfectly frozen moment and bring more energy and expression into our images.

Another practical studio evening working with models.
There will be opportunities to try different lighting setups, practise posing, work with backgrounds and build confidence in the studio.

Tonight we get practical with movement and high-speed photography.
Expect water droplets, paint drops and other fast-moving subjects. Bring your camera, your curiosity and perhaps a willingness to get slightly messy in the name of art.

Tonight is our themed PDI competition, judged by David Steel. One entry for each theme: Water / Frozen / Shadow
Themed competitions are always interesting, as everyone starts with the same brief but usually ends up somewhere completely different. Expect imagination, interpretation and a good range of approaches.

Tonight we welcome Jonathan Vaines with his print talk, In The P-Ink.
Jonathan’s evenings are always thoughtful, creative and full of insight into printed work, presentation and the decisions that help images succeed on paper.

Tonight is a double competition evening: Portrait Photographer of the Year (4 Prints), including the Barry Roberts Trophy for best portrait image, and the Chris Pike Memorial Trophy Competition (PDI), judged by Ben Pike.
Chris Pike Memorial Trophy theme this year is Phone (a phone must be an integral subject within the image).
Expect character, creativity, technical skill and plenty of variety.

Tonight is PDI of the Year, judged by Naomi Saul.
One of the highlights of the season, bringing together some of the strongest projected digital images from the year. A great opportunity to celebrate members’ work and see how much variety there has been across the season.

Tonight is Photographer of the Year (6 Prints), including the Jim Lucas Award for best print, judged by Jonathan Vaines.
This is one of the major evenings in the club calendar, celebrating strong work from across the season and giving members the chance to show a varied body of photography.
